First day of classes

So, it's 11:36 AM, and I'm done with my first day (except my office hour that goes on for another 50 minutes).

I have not been looking forward to this quarter. I think the time spent in Ghana really got to me. Partly because I feel like I had no "down time", which may seem odd, because I spent 2 months away from work. But I do feel like I had little down time, and everything seemed to be going at hyperspeed the couple of weeks leading up to today.

To my students, I wish success. I like seeing students succeed more than just about anything. I think I need that to feel I am successful, and to give me something to look forward to, next quarter.

One Week

Classes start in one week.

This Thursday, Opening Days (the district's opening of the school year) begins. I like the idea of Opening Days - the "rah, rah, it's going to be a great year" idea, but I have yet to feel that way during, or after Opening Days. It's rough enough to get through the first week of classes, that I have no "rah" in me, and I'm just glad to get through each day.
